Video Transcript for Review of Flint Hill Goods - Serrated Hex Flange Nut - 185917

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the M8-1.25 steel zinc-plated serrated hex flange nut. This is for a quantity of one. Now, this can be used on the Chevrolet and GMC trucks to connect the factory run 12-volt lead and the trailer brake power lead to the post in the fuse box under the hood. This nut is a steel construction, has a nice sink-plated finish to it. It is a class eight grade serrated flange nut.

The size again we mentioned is M8-1.25 coarse thread, and the hex head size is 13 millimeters. But that should do it for the review on this M8-1.25 steel zinc-plated serrated hex flange nut.

Fits as needed for installing a trailer brake on a 2013 Yukon

by:

Well, it's a nut. Not much that can go wrong. Used this on my GMT400 Yukon. (1996 Yukon) for the AUX post in the fuse box for installing my trailer brake controller and to get AUX power for the trailer plug.

by:

The item that arrived did NOT fit the stud in my engine compartment for the factory wiring for brake controller on my 2013 GMC Yukon- the nut that arrived was about three times larger than needed- I called to report this, spoke with Ashley and there was no answer how to get the correct nut needed

  • Is the 2007 GMC Sierra New Body Style Pre-Wired for a Brake Controller and What are the Wire Colors
Yes, your 2007 GMC Sierra comes wired for installation of the Draw-Tite # 5504 brake controller. There is a bundle of wires under the left side of the instrument panel to the left of the steering column. The wires can be identified by a white label and the color of the wires. The wire colors are (1) Red/Black wire, (1) White wire, (1) Light Blue/White wire and (1) Dark Blue wire and possibly (1) Orange wire. We have an FAQ article (see link) that explains exactly how to wire these wires...

  • Draw-Tite Brake Controller Part # 5504 Not Lighting Up After Wiring To 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe
It sounds like the connections of your # 5504 that need to be made under the hood of the vehicle have not been made. There are two wires, both Red/Black with eyelets on the end. One wire is located between the fuse box and the driver side fender, the other wire is located under the brake master cylinder. Each wire has a different sized eyelet on the them and will connect to the studs at the front of the fuse box. You will need an M6 nut, part # 185916 and an M8 nut, part # 185917, to attach...

  • Are There Connections Under the Hood of a 2008 Chevy Silverado For Brake Controller Install
To install a brake controller like the part # 90195 in your 2007 Chevy Silverado there are a few connections under the hood of your truck that need to be made. There is one wire by the truck's fender that will need to get connected to the fuse box and there is another wire beneath the brake booster that needs to get run to the fuse box. Check out the help article I attached that details this process. For nuts you will need M8, # 185917 and the M6, # 185916. I also attached an install video.

  • Finalizing Connections for the Electric Trailer Brake Controller on a 2010 Chevy Tahoe
It is possible that you will need to make a few connections under the hood of your 2010 Chevy Tahoe in order to power some of the brake controller and 7-Way functions. Under the hood, remove the cover for the power distribution box, located on the drivers side. The ring terminal for brake controller power is located directly to the right of the power distribution box. It is taped to a wiring harness between the driver-side front fender and the power distribution box. Cut the tape to release...

I spoke with my contact at Tekonsha about the problem you are having with the Prodigy RF Brake Controller, # TK94FR. He has run into this issue before and there is a possible solution. Since 2007 GM still provided the necessary wiring for brake controllers on tow packages but they did not always make the connections complete in many cases. The end result is that under the hood, you will have to make some connections to make the tow package functional. There are two connections that need...

Yes, there are two wires that would need to be connected to a couple of posts on your power distribution block in your engine bay. This is a fairly easy process, it may take some time to locate those wires. Fortunately, we have a How-To article written up on how to do this that I have linked below. I will run through the process quickly below and add a link to the article to help fill in any blanks and provide some pictures. Follow the instructions for the brake controller to mount it...

It is possible that the previous owner was not aware of the tow package wiring and connections that need to be made under the hood of your 2009 GMC Sierra. The tow package power wire under the dash essentially goes directly under the hood over by the power distribution box. If it is present then it might be there off to one side. One is the power wire to the brake control and the other is the battery charge line to the 7-Way connector. It sounds to me as if your controller is not getting sufficient 12-volt power to operate correctly. Try using a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 on the black power supply wire feeding the brake controller. I am guessing you will not see any power on this wire. The flickering you describe is from the slight amount of power reaching the controller through the red wire that serves as the input to the controller that tells it when the vehicle brakes are being applied. If you installed your Prodigy brake controller with a brake controller wiring harness, # 3035-P, on the Ford truck, you will need to either replace the harness with a new pigtail wiring harness, # 7894, or cut the Ford connector off of the harness and splice the wires to the brake controller wiring under the dash of your 2011 Chevrolet. The interior dome lights on your trailer likely run off of either a trailer mounted battery or directly off of the 12 volt circuit from the trailer connector (if it uses a 7-Way connector). If they connect to a battery then check to see if the battery is good, needs a charge, or needs to be replaced.
